Barry Napier of Cubic Telecom announces €473m deal with SoftBank.
Barry Napier represents the type of highly ambitious entrepreneur that Endeavor works with. Today, he is marking the beginning of a strategic global partnership between SoftBank and Cubic Telecom to pioneer the future of software-defined connected vehicles and Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, harnessing the power of global connectivity platforms. The partnership includes an investment of €473m in Cubic Telecom for a 51% equity stake in the company, valuing it at €900m.
We are immensely proud that Barry was the first Endeavor Ireland Entrepreneur, having joined in March 2020. Barry embodies both of Endeavor’s core values: going big and paying-it-forward. Barry’s unique path has, and continues to, benefit the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, Cubic’s employees, his investors and mentors. Endeavor Ireland Chairman, The Edge, comments that, “Barry’s story demonstrates that the secret to success is grounded in hard work, perseverance and a pay-it-forward attitude, which is what Endeavor is all about.”
Under his leadership, as CEO and Executive Chairman of Cubic, Barry and the team have achieved remarkable milestones including 17 Million+ devices connected, 190+ countries reached and 300+ employees. From the beginning of his time with Endeavor, he made a real impact as a role model for the next generation of founders – both by mentoring many earlier stage entrepreneurs, and as a driving force in the telecommunications industry for over 18 years, with three successful M&A transactions under his belt. This success is a testament to the ever increasing scale of Irish transactions, acting as inspiration to the next generation of entrepreneurs to remain with their businesses and build global companies from the island of Ireland. If you can see it you can be it!
Barry has been an active and engaged member of the Endeavor network since March 2020; from the beginning of his Endeavor journey at the Local Selection Panel with Endeavor Ireland Board Members The Edge, Anne Heraty and Elaine Coughlan to attending international peer meetings in UAE to one-on-one mentorships with local and international entrepreneurs.
Huge congratulations to Barry and the team at Cubic for their hard work and dedication. We are excited for this next phase with Soft Bank’s support as Cubic continues on this path. We look forward to continuing to think big, create meaningful connections, and continuing our mission to support high-impact entrepreneurship on the island of Ireland.
