Behind the Curtain: Why We Selected Spectrum.Life
Founded in Dublin in 2018, Spectrum.Life supports more than 20 million individuals through over 20 insurer partners, more than 1.5 million students and employees across over 50 universities, and employees at more than 4,000 corporate clients. Its co-founders, Stephen Costello and Stuart McGoldrick, are the first healthtech entrepreneurs to join Endeavor Ireland.
Spectrum.Life replaces the fragmented patchwork of helplines, apps and therapy networks with a single connected platform. Its white-label digital front door embeds directly into partners’ own apps. It guides each member to the right level of care, from wellbeing content and its AI companion, Cara, to therapy and virtual GP services. All care is delivered by a directly employed clinical team. The company has expanded beyond the UK and Ireland into Australia and the Gulf.
From Dublin to Endeavor’s International Selection Panel in Montréal
Becoming an Endeavor Entrepreneur involves several rounds of review, culminating in an International Selection Panel, or ISP. Each stage also gives entrepreneurs time with experienced mentors who challenge their thinking and help them prepare for their next phase of growth.
Those conversations can help entrepreneurs refine their strategy, identify blind spots and sharpen their vision. Alongside assessing the business, mentors and panelists explore how its leaders could become role models and support others in their entrepreneurial communities.
At their Local Selection Panel, Stephen and Stuart pitched to Endeavor Ireland Board Members Anne Heraty, Mark Roden, Denis O’Brien and Tony Kilduff, making the case for why they should be selected as Endeavor Entrepreneurs.

They passed with flying colours and progressed to the final stage of the selection journey: the International Selection Panel in Montréal, Canada.
There, global business leaders explored Spectrum.Life’s potential to become one of Ireland’s next standout global healthtech companies. They assessed Stephen and Stuart’s ambition, their ability to deliver on it and their commitment to supporting the entrepreneurs coming after them.
Following the interviews, panelists discussed the candidates and voted on their selection. Stephen and Stuart were among 18 entrepreneurs leading nine companies selected at the Montréal ISP in September.
What we saw in Spectrum.Life
We define companies with the potential to join Endeavor in four different ways. Spectrum.Life is a Transformer.
Transformers are ambitious leaders running companies that create jobs and have a significant impact on their communities. Often working in established industries, they use technology to stay at the forefront of their sector and reach the next level of growth. The most successful can take that model global.
Stephen and Stuart combine healthcare experience with the ability to build and grow a business internationally. They have developed a clinically led platform in Ireland and established partnerships that bring it to millions of people across several markets.
Their next phase brings several questions into focus:
- How can Spectrum.Life deepen its relationships with major insurers and reach more people through those partnerships?
- What will it take to bring its model into new international markets?
- How can Stephen and Stuart scale their leadership team while maintaining the clinical delivery behind the service?
- How can they share their experience with other entrepreneurs building from Ireland?
Endeavor will connect Stephen and Stuart with global healthcare and insurance leaders, mentors and fellow entrepreneurs who have navigated international growth. It also provides a platform for them to pay their success forward, sharing what they’ve learned to help the next generation build global companies from Ireland.
We’re so proud and delighted to welcome Stuart and Stephen to the Endeavor network. Onward and upward!
